Blog/Forum Down

Like the old saying goes. There is a beginning and an end to all things...

Bear with me this may be a little long.

Well, the main blog will will probably be shut down. Just got word from Microsoft that the site is being hit by bots. A DDoS attack. I doubt they will allow us to continue with the site s due to the attack causing service disruption to their servers. It is shared hosting and they don't have dedicated service. Not that I know of. Which means I would have to move it to another host. I have backups but it wouldn't be compatible since SharePoint is different. I would have to rebuild it again by hand. You can't just move them to another host and upload it. Even if it did come back up, I am not going to bother with it. As of now the Forum is being hit with attacks and Arvixe had to disable it.

So to put it simply, I am just sick and tired of having to rebuild everything and worry about be a target of attacks. I have already built this blog at least 3 times already and I am refuse to do it again. To keep it going, I would probably have to buy a dedicated server, and of course purchase extra security features. Yet that doesn't guarantee I am protected from attacks! If I remember correctly PTCSociety had a pretty good dedicated server, with some sort of protection on arvixe and they were brought down as well.

For a brief moment I was upset, then I started to laugh at the whole thing. Now I consider it a relief and burdon off of my shoulders. Kind of a Christmas present for me. I know that sounds like an odd thing to say. But that is how I feel now. I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Surprised it took them so long. After all I had a target on me for several years now.

So the question I have been asking myself, why keep bring the blog back up? So people can argue with me about whether or not sites are scams and attack me for sharing this info? Um no. I have been a punching bag for almost 5 years now. I have had enough and I consider this a blessing in disguise. I wont go on a rant about the industry, but after a while you get sick of hearing about all the negativity that people experience on these sites. Constant complaints about rentals, poor support, non payments, and the list will go on and on. It is like I hated to even look at my emails any more. Pretty bad when your inbox is full of gloom and despair. Well, they say the day you don't enjoy your job is the day you should find one you do love. So here is my notice. I am quitting my 2nd job (yes that is what it felt like). A two week notice.

So what will happen now? The forum will remain open till mid January. Right now it is down due to attaacks. Seem they are taking turns on which site to take. After that everything will close. Sure I can try just keeping the forum going, but to what end? Running a forum was never my cup of tea as most of you know. It was only meant to supplement the blog for those who didn't like using intense debate. But since the blog isn't going to be online any longer then there is no reason to keep this forum going. It will just be their next target to go after and another headache for me to trying to keep running. Thank you but no thank you.

AdHitz ads will be fully refunded to those who have ads pending or currently running. I have contacted AdHitz to refund those who have ad credits still left.

My future in PTC? I will still be around here and there. But before go I would like to thank everyone for their support during these past 4 + years. I never dreamed of it getting as big as it did. As some of you already know, I originally started blogging about a couple of scam sites I had dealings with, and then it grew from there. But as I said before, like all things, it must come to an end. I wish you all the best of luck. [/spoiler]
